Supplies
Clear Plastic ball ornament
Craft Glue (not white school glue, it’s not strong enough)
Orange Pipe Cleaners
Googly Eyes
Buttons
Adult sock with a pattern
Epsom salts
Yarn or string
Glue gun and glue sticks
Small paint brush
Everything is available at the Dollar Tree except for the glue gun, but you can pick one up at any craft store for just a few dollars.
Attach the finished edge of the sock to the top of the ornament with hot glue. Stretch to fit over the ornament. (as you will see in my pictures I didn’t do the hat first and that was a mistake, so learn from my mistake)
After the sock is attached cut the foot off. Then take some yarn/string and tie it around the cut end to form the sock into a hat.
After you have attached the hat brush the rest of the ornament with craft glue.
Then pour the epsom salts into a bowl and dip the ornament into the Epsom salts until it is completely coated. Set aside to dry for about an hour, depending on how thickly you applied the glue.
After the glue has dried use the hot glue gun to attach the googly eyes for the eyes.
Then take an orange pipe cleaner and wrap it around your little finger. Slide it off your finger and cut off the unused portion.
Shape the top into a point. Then glue the fat end to the ornament.
Take the buttons and glue them in place as the mouth. After the face is complete take another piece of yarn/string and create a loop tying a not in the end.
Glue the loop to the top of the snowman’s hat to hang it from the tree.
This is a great craft for kids as long as an adult uses the glue gun. Why not get the kids involved and make a whole snowman family? Each ornament will have its own personality. What will yours say about you?
Happy crafting!
