Elf on the Shelf Sleeping Bag

Difficulty: Beginner

If you have one of those elves you will love this post. This craft is crazy easy and you can make it even if you don’t have a sewing machine.

We don’t have one of those elves at our house, because we already have a lot of Christmas traditions and it would’ve been one more thing to add to the list. If your family has an elf that’s great, embrace it and enjoy it as much as you can.

Why did I make an elf sleeping bag if we don’t have an elf? Well it was on the request of my sister-in-law Erica. Her kids got an elf this year and she asked me if I could make sleeping bags for the elf and a few of my niece’s Barbies.

In literally 10 minutes I whipped us this sleeping bag with a little help from Miss M’s Queen Elsa doll, which is roughly the same size as a Barbie. I was so impressed at what a quick project this was. If you already have your supplies on hand your elf and Barbies will be ready for a slumber party in no time.

Supplies

Christmas fabric or any fabric with a print, Cotton or flannel (2 contrasting or coordinating prints, scrap fabric would be great, 2 fat quarters would probably be big enough to make 2 or 3 sleeping bags)
Thread
Scissors
Sewing machine or needle for hand sewing
Elf or Barbie to determine size
Pins

Cut the same size rectangle from each fabric. Make sure it is long enough for the height of the elf and wide enough to be folded in half over the elf with a little extra for stitching.
